Hand on Coding for Grades 6-12 (Really) offers an overview of many different student friendly platforms that can support beginning through advanced coding in a middle and high school program.  This session features student inventors who are eager to share their own coding creations that can then be brought back to summit participant's home schools.

The session will begin with a brief overview of a wide variety of platforms available to support coding in both middle and high school settings. Participants will then be able to meet with students from grades 6-12 who will share examples of their own coding projects and experiences in an informal session. Student presenters range in ages from 12-17 and in skill levels that vary from beginning middle schoolers using block code platforms to advanced javascript web-designers in the high school. This program is ideal for educators interested in seeing the big picture of a complete middle and high school program and meeting the students who are part of that program. It is also ideal for educators hoping to get ideas of platforms to support their own coding instruction.
